Review on Vitapur BA 40S Standard Ballast Filtration by Calvin Chavva

I bought this to replace an identical ballast that did not reset after changing bulbs. The instructions state that to reset the lamp life counter, you need to press and hold the button for 10 seconds. It did not work. I tried it in all directions until Tuesday. The alarm ended up going all the time so I had to choose an option other than replacing the ballast which is unfortunate as the original ballast worked really well. This ballast is identical to the one he replaced. Same make, model number, part number and decal. I expect to have to replace it in a year if I change the lightbulb but the alarm doesn't reset. It could have been designed a lot better. So if you are looking for one of these ballasts I would recommend finding an alternative. Otherwise you'll have to throw away a perfectly working ballast if you can't reset the alarm.
