Dangerous scratching post I bought this scratching post for my 3 year old cat to give her extra stimulation. The wooden carpet is soft and luxurious, and the five legs are wrapped with a thin, tightly knotted rope. We assembled the tree and I was excited because I knew she would love the different textures. To my dismay my cat got her claw caught between the ropes a few minutes after set up that evening and panicked. She was dangling by her right front paw. She panicked, twisting and turning to free herself before I could reach her. I knew something was wrong and took her to the vet the next morning. She has broken her arm in two places and is wearing a cast. The rope on this tree is unusually thin and not recommended. I cannot in good conscience introduce this tree. Now he is in storage. I would be devastated if the other cat got hurt.
