Review on I-o DATA GV-USB2 Video Capture Device with USB Connection by Ramon Hood

Wanted to like this product and initially it seemed like a great find. Easy to install (yes it's all in Japanese, but there are other reviewers who detail what needs to be pressed, or google translator can do this too) and easy to set up (a few sticks in, then straight into USB) . The OBS software (which you can record or stream from to switch) sees the device and happily accepts it as an input source. So what's not to love? The recording device developed a hum that was not originally audible. This is a low frequency hum (not a static tone) similar to the hum of a ground loop. However, this is not caused by improper grounding in the wiring. I've verified this by using it on multiple computing devices in different settings (home, in another house and even the office) and running RCA audio through the ground loop isolator. The hum continues and is caused by the device itself. As other reviews have noted, the return policy isn't great and if you're only returning half of an item it's not worth the time and hassle. I learned here that as a seller you only buy from Amazon, so if you have any problems with the purchase, the return is easy and guaranteed. Shame really, the unit does everything well except injecting that damn hum into every signal that goes through it.
