Difference in charging OEM and non-OEM batteries

I just noticed that this Arlo charger will charge Arlo batteries but not batteries that aren't named Arlo: Batteries, these are sold as suitable replacement OEM batteries... Is the problem with the charger or the non-OEM battery?
