My Pitbull/Bulldog/Mutant mix weighs about 25-30 pounds and has a chest of about 21 inches so we went with size XL. Fits very well, a little tight on the stomach, but the velcro holds without any problems! It's well done; It has the perfect combination of warmth and waterproofness. My dog gets cold easily, but this jacket keeps him warm in 25 degree Colorado weather! The built in suspension is good and seems (as far as you can tell from the picture) to take the load. However, I'm still nervous about being pulled down, so I wear her harness over my hiking jacket. It seems strong for a light pull but definitely won't hold up if your dog is as strong as mine. Overall this jacket was perfect and I will buy another color!
