Review on The Engineered Now Headrest for Herman Miller Aeron Chair - H4 for Remastered, Mineral (Headrest Only) by Darrick Dobbin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

With a $2.00 tweak and tweak, it's PERFECT!

This is H4 in Graphite for the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered chair. This quality and finish makes it look like a genuine Aeron accessory. Take the time to READ the instruction manual to INSTALL and adjust the headrest AFTER you have adjusted the chair for your comfort. (See Herman Miller's website for instructions on the chair.) After adjusting it for my comfort, I tightened all the headrest parts clockwise a quarter turn to hold the adjustments a little better. EN doesn't recommend this as they say the factory defaults allow for easy customization. I agree but I wanted it to be harder than it was. I never thought the Aeron could be improved upon, but this headrest does - DEFINITELY worth $180! so that the headrest does not fall off. I decided on a 1/4" ID fuel line to solve this problem. 1 foot of this product is $2 at my local hardware store. This hose is reinforced internally to hold its shape, making it very durable. Maximum height, I needed two pieces 2 3/8" long. (I cut them from the unmarked portion of the tubing.) Then I clamped the piece in a vise, tight enough to hold it still while carefully cutting one side of it cut lengthwise. Use a new utility knife blade and SLOWLY make 3 straight cuts, each slightly deeper than the previous one, after the previous cut. As a result you will have a sleeve that fits perfectly on the rod. Open the gap wide enough to to go around the bar and put it on. The tubing fits perfectly around the bar. You won't even see the gap. They are very rigid and don't look too flashy. Mine are on graphite (grey) Aeron. If If you have a chair made of carbon (black), it harmonises even better! Adjust the headrest to your liking, measure how many tubes you need ABOVE the mount and follow the instructions above. See photos.
