I have used the Zojirushi YSC100 for many years to brew very strong coffee (full filter, half water) but the latter was lost when I moved house. We bought a YTC100XB but simply gave up in favor of the Moccamaster due to the poor quality and temperature of the coffee. Zojirushi is great for ease of use and cleaning. The 100 series machines do this best. Removable water tank prevents water from entering the counter when filling the device. The coffee filter holder is quick and easy to clean and has few parts to keep track of. If you pull out the carafe for a quick taste mid-brewing, the maker won't spill a drop. Nothing seems ready to fall apart or break out of your hands. The push-button pour-out decanter is a lot better than most other brands' twist-top decanters (if there's a class of problems more silly than First World, here are a few candidates). The controls are good. It's easy to set the timer. The XB model has a few minor improvements over the YTC model (fast brewing; you no longer have to press cancel before brewing the next cup) and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for a very long time. The coffee was good with the YTC model, it's really mediocre with this XB model. It's so much weaker and cooler that I would have guessed we had a lemon if I hadn't read the other reviews here. Moccamaster is far less pleasant to use, but the coffee is better than anything I've had from Zojirushi, which makes me wonder how difficult it is to duplicate the quality of Moccamaster's brew while maintaining Zojirushi's ease of use.
