Let me start by saying that all cats are different. I have 4, bought these for my one elderly cat who is very attached to me who will be flying for the first time because she almost died the last time I left her. I'm not sure if my other 3 would even let me put them in this backpack but whoever traveled with me did just great! I bought it a week before the trip and let her get used to it. She often looked for him and took a nap in the extended part. When it's time to fly this backpack is sturdy, well made, you can wear it over it if you wish, it fits perfectly under the seat and I don't have to move the bottom of the bag to fit under the seat as mentioned in some questions . I end up buying a few other totes to make sure I choose the right one as I guessed my first choice a second time (this one) but none of them were as well made as this one (definitely) and felt like that my cat felt safest and most comfortable in it.
