living rooms. That's why I overpaid :) Still, it inspired me to buy some cold press(?) watercolor paper and try my hand at real work. It was a work of art only a mother could love, but I loved it. Now please excuse my lack of artistic jargon as I try to be helpful in describing: Pencils draw smoothly and are easily colored lightly or more solidly for different effects. When I added water, the pencil turned to watercolor in a very nice and thorough way. Others I showed it to thought it was real watercolor, not pencil. The pencil is carefully erased after drying, but when converted to watercolor it seems impossible to erase. Pencils blend well when I mix colors - wet or dry - and I can easily dip the tip of the pencil in water and draw like that. Haven't had to sharpen them yet so can't comment on how they hold up there, but they arrived well sharpened. I was disappointed that there was no flesh colored pencil (yet SO many red ones) and I had to go to a craft store to buy them individually so I could draw people/faces etc. I really probably should have bought Crayola pencils ( laughs) for my purposes, but that says nothing about the size of the pens. They are great and the true artist will get their money's worth from them.
