The purpose of a clock radio is to be both a clock so you can tell the time and a radio that picks up broadcast signals and plays sound. In addition to the photo of the product featured on Revain not matching the product - in the photo one is gray and what was sent (and returned) is black - the control panel is all black with tiny clues as to what goes with which Purpose must be pressed. both difficult to discern and impossible to reconcile, making it totally inappropriate for me. When I tune into a station, I expect the display to show different frequencies until I get to the location I want, and then go back to the clock display. This radio never goes back to the clock, just displays the frequency - forever. Useless! If you press the display, the time will be shown briefly, but the display will quickly return to the frequency. When you play a CD, the display shows what part is playing and how many seconds of the CD's duration have elapsed without returning to the correct time. Anyone who has developed such a product must have no idea what a "clock radio" is. Anyone who thought it was a good idea to make black remote controls and black bezels for items that are often found in a darkened room, along with tiny letters denoting the function, has obviously never used the product they designed, or he would have seen limitations. At first I thought I could live with the imperfections, so I placed white dots of glue on the bezel to show volume up and down, on and off, and the gauge. Then I discovered that reception, at least in my metal-roofed house, was erratic - it banged on and off when I was in the shower, apparently depending on the position of my hand. I was looking for a way to connect an external antenna and couldn't find it - another reason NOT to buy this product. So here I have laid out a few reasons why you should NOT buy this product and I am stunned by the good reviews posted here which makes me doubt their authenticity. I will withhold my judgment until I see if my review gets published or not. In the "Evaluation Characteristics" section, don't you find it odd that "reception" is not a characteristic to be evaluated? How about "ease of use"?
