I made this into a compost bin and it's almost perfect. It costs about the same as a trash can, but a screw top is much more secure than any trash can lid. And the fact that there are no handles rolls well. I've just drilled a few 1/4" holes in the sides and bottom and I flip it to turn the compost. If you have a large amount of composting material it might be too small. For kitchen scraps it works for me though , every now and then I add a small amount of garden waste.
