I recently upgraded my CCTV system. It mounts remotely, and I extend the video and mouse cables to a more convenient location. I used a USB cable extender (30ft) with a cable amplifier powered by the USB port. Everything worked fine with the old DVR, but was unstable with the new one. The pointer jumped around and pretended I was pressing buttons, even though I wasn't actually doing it. I was looking for an externally powered amplifier when I came across this CAT 5 power strip. Luckily I had a CAT 5 cable that wasn't being used. It works great! No more mouse problems.
