First felling - happy customer
This was my first attempt at felling maple. I drove my first tap too deep into the wood (with a rubber mallet) and was convinced it would snap trying to remove it with a standard hammer, but all reports of the durability of these capstan taps are correct. There are no cracks or chips upon removal. The tip sheet that comes with this kit is extremely helpful. Good advice worth repeating is not to blow your mouth into the tap hole to dislodge wood chips after you've drilled the first hole. This can lead to the spread of bacteria from the mouth to the tree. Instead, insert and remove the drill several times to clean it.
