This is a great kit with detailed instructions that makes installing faucets so easy. We chose TSC 5 gallon food buckets and drilled a hole in the side for the hose. We leveled them and put a brick on top so they wouldn't tip over for any reason. This is our first year of maple sap harvesting, so we're new to the whole process. As a reference, a 5 gallon pail was filled in 24 hours. The taps are very strong and the pipe is the perfect length. I will order more next year.

This was my first attempt at felling maple. I drove my first tap too deep into the wood (with a rubber mallet) and was convinced it would snap trying to remove it with a standard hammer, but all reports of the durability of these capstan taps are correct. There are no cracks or chips upon removal. The tip sheet that comes with this kit is extremely helpful. What a wonderful project and experience for my family made very easy with this kit. We treated four trees and received over 15 gallons of fluid in one week. For collection we used jugs of milk and juice. I simply drilled a hole in the lid of the jar and inserted a plastic tube to collect it. Although we put the bins on the ground we had no problems with bugs or deer. I bought a 10 pack as it wasn't much more expensive but a smaller set would be fine. Everything worked great and I successfully turned gallons of juice into a decent amount of maple syrup. I look forward to doing it again next year and am very happy with my purchase. I took off a star for durability because I was really struggling to get some splines out of the trees after the season.
