I contacted Mike at Logical Leather and asked him about it - why one hole is too tight and the next too loose. He responded immediately and was very helpful. I recommend anyone having problems with the collar to contact the company. They really want to provide good customer service and do the right thing to the best of their ability. I would definitely purchase another product from Logical Leather if I need one in the future. I used a well made nylon collar with metal clasps, but somehow the clasps managed to come loose. Not trusting this collar to work for us, I got nervous when approaching other dogs. Anyone who's trained dogs knows that your fear transmits to the dog, so I knew we needed gear we could trust. I've been buying leather collars with buckles for a long time, but have hesitated to buy them because nylon collars with clips adjust much more precisely to get the right fit. The type of buckle requires pre-drilled holes. After looking through many collars, we decided on this one - a big one. To be honest my first reaction was that this collar was HUGE and never fit. It also appears to be very bulky. But after putting it around our dog's neck, it's exactly the same girth as the collar we used when we attached it to the penultimate collar hole. And as others have said in their reviews, this collar has an unmistakably strong smell. I hope that after some time this smell will disappear from the ventilation. Most likely he will soon take on a dog smell anyway. :-) I want this collar to work and really want to give it 5 stars but I won't until we use it and have a better opinion of it.
