Soft, warm light. It's bright, but remember that it's spread around the lamp - it won't glow with the advertised brightness. Perhaps if it were completely enclosed in a directional housing. It's bright, amazing, but not as bright as advertised because it's a bunch of little lights pointing in all directions, not just one bright light. Just lighting it in an outlet gives you a maximum of 50% of what is claimed as half the lights are always facing the other way and the reflection of the lights not facing you is weaker than 50% standing to you, so again you only get 50%.
