initial review/evaluation; 1star:Stupid thing says 2K cam video/photo quality is bad! This thing isn't even VGA. I was in no hurry to look for a suitable DVR. I finally went for it after considering their latest model with a 9 or 10 inch screen. This should be better in both video quality and performance. No one! It was a waste of time. First it took me a good 3 hours to cut and solder/route the stupid short cable that connects the rear camera. I don't know if they thought that everyone who buys this thing is going to put it on a Toyota Prius or what? Did they even think people with trucks would use it? The rear camera cable is terribly short. Second, if you look at the video quality on the included mirror screen, it looks great! However, remove the memory card, connect it to the computer and watch the video. You will be more than disappointed with the video quality. And I think that's the number one reason anyone would buy a dash cam in the first place - good video quality. Third, the stupid rear camera isn't that waterproof. This stupid thing hums during and after rain. I upload photos here. I'm tearing the stupid thing down this weekend and it's coming back to Revane this weekend. Updated review/rating; 3 stars: AKASO contacted me and sent me a replacement DSLR. I've had it installed for about 11 months now. So far, so good. It works great. It withstands all weather conditions. I took off two stars because it's not possible to move media from the camera to the phone or computer without having to fiddle with the front mirror, again creating a mess. front camera angle because you're trying to remove a memory card that's almost impossible to remove with your fingers. It's set so deep in the mirror block that you can't pull it out with your nails. You'll need some sort of sharp center or blade to secure and pull it out. It would be nice to have a way to connect to the mirror box wirelessly or with some sort of USB cable to transfer media files from the mirror box to the phone. or calculator. Another disadvantage of the device is that you can go back to the recorded media and lock a specific file or any other file to prevent it from being overwritten. To prevent the recorded media file from being overwritten, you can press the padlock icon on the screen at the moment the event occurs. So if you don't click the padlock icon at this point, the only way to save the file is to pull out the memory card and connect it to your phone or computer, and then transfer the specific file. If you are going on a long journey NOW, you probably don't want to stop just for that, hence you lost your action file. For me this is a big minus.
