Does not hold any voltage

I was very happy to install this converter on my Dodge Caliber. I am a computer, network engineer and electrical installer. I know exactly what to do in this case. The Dodge Caliber has a fuse box near the battery on the outside of the cab, being a Vantrue unit I decided to be sure of the quality of the product and make a permanent install. I installed the built-in fuse (for that I had to cut the input cable. I checked if the 12V voltage is ok. Then I connected the camera but it didn't work at all. I checked the connections and the Checked input voltage Before and after the built in fuse everything was fine, it was 12V but the camera didn't work I then decided to connect a 5V wire to test the voltage which was 0V On this one Point I know it's defective Out of curiosity I left the tester plugged into the output and cycled it off and on again, to my surprise it was an unstable 3.1V charge that dropped rapidly like a countdown clock until it Reaching 0V changed the positive input from a constant 12V to 12V after firing with the same results Finally I took the whole device and tested it directly on the battery terminals (so no excuses that not enough juice was there). i won the cables to test the voltage 'I cannot return this item. I have decided never to trust Vantrue again and this casts serious doubt on the validity of so many positive 5 star reviews.
