Well I've been using the sponge filter in my aquarium for about a month now and to be honest I'm not thrilled with it for a number of reasons. .one. There are no instructions in the complete installation, which may seem a bit important for beginners.2. The setup doesn't allow anyone to put an air stone in without cutting off one of the ends, which I ended up doing because it doesn't add much air to the water with the huge bubbles it produces, not to mention how annoying it is. receives at night.3. The sponge itself has larger pores, meaning things move around more easily. It doesn't "filter" your tank like it should. I've also found that the fry technically can't be sucked in, but they can get stuck in the pores of a real sponge. Revain, this will really transform your fish/tanks. The ATI Hydro sponge filter is the one I went with and highly recommend
