I bought two of these because my Definitive Technologies Pro Sub 1000 died after 8 years. When buying, I was guided solely by reviews / price. My receiver has two subwoofer outputs so I went with two when I only had one DT. I have to say I was a bit confused at first. I was expecting a lot more bass, especially from two subwoofers, but that's not the case. It just didn't have the same effect as my DT. Now the DT was around $500 and BOTH are under $200 so what was I expecting right? After playing with the output of my receiver and speakers I finally got a pretty decent sound that I can live with. I have to keep the volume really high on the subwoofers to get the results I like. I just had to have DT on the halfway point. I don't play music on my system, just TV or movies, so I don't have feedback on the sound quality. Not bad overall, but I'd like to add that I have two.*** Additional review two days later: Okay, I'm giving them 5 stars now after realizing it was an operator error/mistake in the setup of mine Receivers acted . the reason for the lack of bass in these speakers. I noticed that my subwoofer output didn't turn on from the minimum. Once I cranked it up, voila, more bass! Perfect. Now I can turn the overall speaker volume down by a little over 1/2. I also had the problem of the auto shut off feature not working. It fell asleep but didn't wake up when the signal returned. Well, this was again caused by my receiver not having a high enough subwoofer output. Another problem solved, now everything works fine. Very happy now. Excellent purchase.
