Great sound in subwoofers

I don't know much about electronics, I was tasked with finding a new subwoofer for our new stereo, after reading all the reviews I decided on this one and everything I did can say is WOW ! That changes the rules of the game. It's a lot smoother and hotter than this picture, delivering mid-bass sound for music and surround sound. My husband loves it and that's the main thing.

Pros
  • An absolute legend

  • Not automatic

Sounds awfully like music

This thing sounds awfully like music. I wish I could point out some of the more negative reviews. I thought maybe they are doing something wrong. I'm an audiophile but on a tight budget. I have a large living room which makes budget difficult. I spent a few weeks tweaking the crossover and levels, upgrading to premium cables and nothing has changed. It just doesn't work above 60Hz or anything. It sounded good for the explosions in The Last Jedi, but any music in the movies or otherwise soundsโ€ฆ

Great entry-level subwoofer, but above-average distortion!

I had PSW108 for 10 days before I got this one. As soon as I plugged this in, I immediately heard the difference. This sub distorts very easily and doesn't play as well at lower frequencies as the 108. In their defense they note the frequency difference in the description. "Speaker Hack" really helps. After a week of electronic music, trap and 90's bass music I feel comfortable buying the subwoofer. That or my expectations were finally lowered. The subwoofer also didn't work well with movies. I

Good thundering bass compared to theater-in-a-box subwoofers

I ordered 2 of these because I had a Denon receiver with 2 subwoofer outputs. First world problem, I know, but thought I might try. I read an article on an A/V forum that claimed that 2 cheaper woofers are better for home theater than 1 premium woofer because they fill the room better and it doesn't matter where you sit, how you hear the bass response. .let me tell you, i'm blown away. I have one on either side in the front next to the L/R channels. They sound great in games, music and moviesโ€ฆ

Pros

Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Compare to SVS SB12-NSD

I had previously tried three small 8" subwoofers and then came across the rave reviews of the PSW10. It was as good as they say 200% better than anything what I had previously. I was so impressed with the musical performance (thickness and precision) that I started planning something even better. Many audiophile forums have claimed that the SVS SB12-NSD is light years ahead of the PSW10, though it costs five times as much. After hacking into my new SVS, I found these claims grossly exaggerated.

  • Very impressive

Good value for money, quality and performance.

I'm not a music lover however, I've read some reviewers who have complained about the PSW10's distortion. After testing the speaker at different frequencies in the 40-200Hz range with different types of distortion (signals), I found that the speaker accurately reproduced pure sine waves and accurately reproduced the distortion in these distorted test signals. The speaker did exactly what it was supposed to do. Also, it is not necessary (at least I've found) that the subwoofer play at highโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Legacy model

Worthy for the money.

I bought two of these because my Definitive Technologies Pro Sub 1000 died after 8 years. When buying, I was guided solely by reviews / price. My receiver has two subwoofer outputs so I went with two when I only had one DT. I have to say I was a bit confused at first. I was expecting a lot more bass, especially from two subwoofers, but that's not the case. It just didn't have the same effect as my DT. Now the DT was around $500 and BOTH are under $200 so what was I expecting right? Afterโ€ฆ

You won't find a better subwoofer for the money

An excellent quality product from an industry leader at an affordable price. Honestly I don't think you can find a better sub for the money. This thing exceeds all expectations as an entry-level audio component. I bought this from Revain with Prime Free Shipping for less than $110. Wonderful. Fantastic, deep, thunderous sound for my home theater. Good answer. It also adds to the "being there" feeling when playing first person shooters on PS4 (COD: Ghosts is still my favorite!).
