Review on Inch Ultra Thin Dimmable Recessed by Jeff Kersey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice choice.

The product is more or less as described, which is always a good start. In other words, there is no outrageous misinformation in the testimonials. I tested 3 of these with my Kill-A-Watt meter and they all came very close, drawing 10 watts, having a power factor of 0.92 (VERY GOOD) and 11 volt-amps. . I think my meter understates watts a bit, so it's probably pulling 11 watts or so. I also used a thermal imager to see how it worked and it really didn't get very hot. Even the hottest parts were only 20°F (11°C) above ambient. The color looks about right for 3000K as the spec says and I can trust the CRI number of 80+. It's definitely not as good as some 90+ CRI tubes, but that's to be expected. I don't have dimmers, so I didn't test this possibility. On the negative side, the internal LED strip is not attached very well to the case wall, which acts as a heatsink. There are now 36 LEDs on the strip so we're talking 1/4 watt per LED, but that still affects lifespan. I opened up all mine and carefully reinstalled the LED strips so they were more firmly attached to the case wall. parts. I love the flush-to-ceiling look of these lights and the fact that they can be placed almost anywhere on the ceiling.
