So the engineer who designed this didn't think to fill the tank. If you use a carafe to pour water into the tank, an open lid will prevent you from pouring out all the water. You have to aim right over the opened lid to pour all the water out of the carafe. And the carafe has a distinct rim inside that prevents you from pouring out all the water. It's easy to use, but I wish it had the option to select the pot size (6c, 8c, 10c) you want to brew. The only way to do this is to pour that exact amount of water into the tank. Oh, and it's REALLY loud. Overall it's ok, but I wouldn't buy it again.
