Review on Salomon Speedcross Trail Runner Black by Robert Mulrooney

QUICK to put on and comfortable so I wear quality athletic shoes instead of sandals or flip flops

Salomon's quick lacing system is the only shoe I will buy more. I started wearing them for spartan races and fell in love. They fit right out of the box and are so easy to put on. Too often I leave the house in flip flops or sandals because I don't want to tie my shoelaces. Then something comes up and I regret wearing thin sandals instead of real shoes. The quick lacing system can be put on very quickly. I have no idea how many of these I currently have; They are the perfect shoes! I have in every style. Keep in mind that really aggressive spiked soles are good in mud but not so good on regular surfaces or slippery obstacles. For most purposes, you're better off with a Speedcross class with less aggressive lugs, or a Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX. Also, remember to buy a size up when running downhill or (as with any shoe) your toes will get caught. Eventually, your toenails will turn black and fall off. It took me a long time to realize that I've been buying shoes that are too small for years. I have wide feet, high arches and hammer toes and these shoes fit like a dream and are easy to put on so I resist the temptation to be lazy and wear sandals.

Pros

  • Mostly good but...
