No special equipment required. Just plug in your laptop's VGA port, connect this adapter to your laptop's VGA port with an HDMI cable, and the input is HDMI. Recognize everything at once and then use the Windows key and the laptop screen and the P key to copy the image to a TV/beamer or second monitor. Only use one or two screens. Use two screens side by side (dual desktop side). If you want to pass on additional audio, the included audio cable plugs into your laptop's adapter jack and headphone jack. The cable is long enough for me. The image quality is very good with no losses. Depending on the capabilities of the laptop, the resolution of the connected display/projector may not be optimal/already/distorted, especially in ""Copy"" mode, which is purely caused by using a laptop. Aside from laptops, this part can also be connected to a standard PC or other device with a VGA port and I have used it on laptops.
