Review on ☕ De'Longhi EC702: High-Performance 15 Bar Pump Espresso Maker in Sleek Metal Design by Mike Devine

Revainrating 5 out of 5

5 years: kitchen and dining room

I've had this machine since 2011. I think it's a great mid-range product. I use it almost every day, probably 5 or 6 times a week. From the espresso part, the pump is still strong. It's leaking a bit after so many years with almost no maintenance, but it only leaks a few drops after you've taken a shot. The picture quality is still good. It's hard to say if it's because of the quality of the espresso or because the machine really is that phenomenal. The water tank is quite large. It lasts enough to ignore him for a few days. The steamer is pretty good. Mine never leaked unless I forgot to turn the nozzle off completely. Otherwise, it may leak a little until you turn it off. My only complaint is that the top heater is slow to heat up, maybe for the better, but if you want a warm cup it really needs to stay on the machine for a while. Mine serves as a warmer for the butter holder to keep the toast butter soft. Double the efficiency, I have no complaints. As for reading reviews of it not working after about 6 months, I suspect it has a lot to do with the machine not being de-ashed. Harder water wears out the car faster. I use Durgol, a fairly cheap spacer that I buy here at Revain. If the grist starts to come out in drips, it means the machine needs poor de-ashing. It must be de-ashed as soon as the pouring speed slows down so that the limescale deposits no longer damage the machine. As I said, my machine has been running for 5 years. I'm only looking for an upgrade because I think I might need a few more bells and whistles, but with proper care I don't think my machine will be down any time soon, so there's no rush. I would recommend it to any espresso drinker who isn't spending $500 on a car.
