A little about myself to add context to my review. During this time they helped build 13 houses. I'm an avid carpenter and have a shop full of tools. I also remodeled half of my house to do everything and am in the process of remodeling the other half. This included a full gut to the hairpins. Finally, I have a plethora of other Dewalt tools, starting with many corded ones, and now I replace or buy new tools, all of which are cordless. This twist zip tool is new to me but have used it several times on habitat builds and different brands but they are all corded. So it arrived today and here is the Copper Tax! It didn't work out of the box! There was a problem with the on/off switch. Put simply, it's stuck or jammed. So to me, this immediately signals a quality control and build control issue. Second, it's heavy even without a battery. Although I suspected the switch wasn't working I tried 2 different batteries in it, a 2 amp hour and a 3 amp hour and as expected the heavy tool got even heavier! As expected, the on/off button does not work, so the tool does not work. Another observation: The Rotozip tools I've used in the past were small enough that my hand would fit around the entire tool. My hand doesn't fit around this tool. It also has a quick release buckle. It's less of a quick release and more of a built in tool for loosening and tightening the collet. It's cumbersome, but it seems to work. I can't say more about this tool because I'm not destined to try it. All of this is accounted for, although I have ordered a replacement and will be sticking with it. I love most of my Dewalt cordless tools and don't need many different types of batteries. And I rarely have more than a few cutouts in a sheet of drywall, so even if it's heavy or chunky it will do just fine. If it still works. And the presence of wireless should more than make up for being a bit heavier and chunkier than wired ones. There's always a shortage of power and long extension cords on a job site, so no need to find a long extension cord, lug it over 100 feet from a pole or generator to central power distribution, etc., it's going to be really nice! OK, update! I have a spare and the switch isn't great either, but it works. I tested one at a large store nearby and the switch was a lot easier to use than the one I have. Also, the quick release is crap! Right now it's stuck and I can't get the boring part of the tool. I have to say that this is by far one of the worst tools I've ever had and I didn't think anything would ever compare to the first router. I owned one of Ryobi's almost 30 years ago. But of course this tool is worse! I regret the purchase and I regret this purchase. I would give zero stars if I could. Yes, and the depth setting is rubbish too!
