Feels good, fairly durable

I always ignore reviews that make first impressions straight out of the box, but here I do just that. Background: I'm a semi-professional shooter, I have a 25- mm ball head used on my old trusted Manfroto 3021 tripod with Manfrotos quick release which is about 18 years old. I recently shot a night panorama and was unhappy with the stability of this setup. My old ball head was a budget pro product at a mid range price. This new ball head is about 2/3 the price (and that's in 2000's money!). The action of the handles is quite smooth and pleasant. The larger ball of 52mm makes the lock much more secure. One of the advantages for me was the two included floor plates, which make it easier to switch to the Arca-Swiss model Quick Release, which is more constructive and stable than the Manfroto Quick Release. Even with a 90Β° baseplate and a 200mm node baseplate (for panoramas), the camera is reasonably tight. I am very impressed. My only concern is the durability of the markings: they appear to be drawn rather than engraved. I'll report back after using this ball head for a while if my opinion changes.
