I've been looking for a good air stone for quite some time. None of them did what they were supposed to do. I was hoping this would be the exception. WHAT IS IT FOR? This air stone is just a stone. You need to attach it to a hose and have a decent pump to get it through the rock. UTILIZATION You need to soak the stone. I soaked it in water for several hours before using it. You then attach the hose and pump to the stone. HOW IT WORKS? It was very frustrating. The bubbles that came out were random and not small or numerous at all. I have a very powerful pump with airflow controls. No flow rate changed performance. STAY WHERE YOU ARE? It doesn't stay in place at all. It wobbles and is almost impossible to weigh down unless you put something around the pipe to weigh it down, but even then it tilts a bit. I didn't like it at all. CONCLUSION This is not a good aerostone at all. It's loose, it doesn't have very good airflow, and I had to remove it from my tank. MY RATING IS ONE STAR. It's just not what it should have been and I'm disappointed.
