Installed on a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB in a Dell Precision 3431. Format stress tested. The drive bounced off the throttle limit at just over 80C before the format was 20% complete. This heatsink might work better in applications where there is a lot of direct airflow across it, but I don't have one. What worked for me in the end was a 5mm thermal pad between the drive and the motherboard; during the same test, it held the temperature in the mid-range of 60°C.
