Review on πŸŽ’ Kattee Leather Canvas Backpack Rucksack: Stylish and Durable Travel Companion by Nikki Kelley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent design and materials. One of my favorite bags. Maybe not ideal for tall people.

I'm a bit obsessed with backpacks and bags and was really excited to try this canvas bag from Kattee. I wanted and still use this bag as my "daily driver". He takes me to and from work and pretty much everywhere. Inside I keep my laptop, various cables, adapters, notepad, pens, first aid kit, some other IT related items and so on. The bag looks very well made. Canvas looks and feels great if you like that type of material. Large front pocket and two smaller side pockets. These bags are pretty big and hold a lot of things. There are ties at the top of the bag to close the opening. When free it is the size of the bag itself. I love this feature. Opens fast and closes fast. Inside there are several fabric pockets, both open and zipped, for storing various items. It has a top handle and I personally love the smell of the bag (weird I know). Now there is something I would like to draw your attention to. First, and this may be quite obvious to some people, the bag is made entirely out of canvas, so it has no stiffness. So if there is nothing in it, it will collapse completely, turning into a puddle on the floor. The only thing that bothers me is when I have to look for something or put something in my pocket. You have to keep the bag open to get it. A perfect example is my laptop in my sleeve. I was expecting this, but it makes it a little harder to find things quickly and put things in a bag. If you're in a hurry to get out the door, this will slow you down where harder bags won't. In addition, the buckles on the front and on the sides are designed for optics. They work, but they attach to the bag with magnetic "buttons" and there's no point in ever closing or opening them. It's great when you need to reach into bags because you'll just open them. However, I sometimes find it difficult to fasten the fasteners. I've never had bags like this, but sometimes I had trouble attaching the magnet. It also slows things down. For now, I can accept all these little issues and not think twice about them. But the straps are a different story. Full disclosure, I'm a fat guy (2XL - 3XL on shirts). So my shoulders, back, chest and arms are bigger than the average bear. I am fully aware of this and have never had a problem with backpacks. But there are two issues with the straps that currently baffle me with this bag. First, there are the dual D-rings that you use to loosen/tighten the straps. They easily slip off on their own. I have to keep pulling them up to keep the bag on my butt. I don't want the bag to be dragged behind me, I want it on my back. For me that leaves a lot to be desired. Second, due to my size, the ends of the soft part of the shoulder straps AND the double D-rings dig into my arms and chest. For example, if I have a bag on and reach for something right in front of me, they dig into my arms/chest. If I put a hand on my chest, it will happen then too. One of the reasons I tend to use backpacks instead of other types of bags is because I have my hands full. I carry something to/from work and need to use my hands. So be aware that this can be an issue if your shirts are larger than XL. That said, I don't blame Kattee for my height, and I've only deducted one star for all of the above because the majority of the population is, say, not skinny. All in all, this is a great backpack. Looks great, well made, the material is heavy and durable. He must age very well. I think a lot of people would be happy to own this. In addition, the price seems reasonable in my opinion. I had no problem paying for what I did for the bag. If this bag style catches your interest, I doubt you will be disappointed.
