I bought this product for a mother with severe edema. Most shoes don't fit because the arch, or top of the foot, from toes to ankles, swells up to 10 times more than the original foot, depending on the medications taken. The foot length remains the same. Shoes constantly need to adjust and cushion the top of the foot. With this shoe she can now keep her shoes on while walking. An extra-wide Velcro strap and side tab help cover the foot, while Velcro placement maintains a constant fit. While the tongue of the shoe and the wide opening at the top of the shoe to the toe ensure that she can easily put the shoes on when she has swelling. The foot pad is minimal but good. There were extra pads in the kit, which was very pleasing.
