Review on 🎧 AfterShokz Air AS650MB Open Ear Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones - Midnight Blue by Jignesh Shaffer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Still better than the previous version!

This is my third bone conduction headphone from this brand. Every few years, after the physical wear and tear of daily wear and tear in all weather conditions (but the electronics work well!), you come back to buy another set and the new model they sell has always been an improvement. Additionally, improvements tend to fix things that didn't work on the old set! In the first set, the plastic back strap always made me nervous that it might break. It never happened; Instead, the adhesive holding the rubber cover on the cable that powers the far speaker came loose. The new version had a titanium strip and was not glued. On the second set, a new titanium band ended in front of the earcups, which were just rubberized plastic. Once this thing broke on my head. They still worked well, they just weren't comfortable anymore because I could feel the broken denture on my temple. I realized what was going on when I took them off to fix my glasses. In this new version, the titanium stripe continues to the end, so it won't happen again. I've never had any complaints about the sound quality and so far it's gotten a little bit better with each version of their product. .Yes, bass doesn't carry through well with ambient noise (road noise, wind, power tools, conversations, etc.). I don't charge for them because that's what they're designed for: letting you hear the world around you while still enjoying the music without disturbing those around you. This, of course, deletes the most easily jammed frequencies. If I want an audiophile experience, I get the studio headphones that I use with my computer. They're great for wearing to work, on the road, hiking, etc. I would wear them fishing but I don't think they're good for diving and small boats can capsize so I'm digging out cheap headphones for times of that time. The only thing I don't like about this current version is that they haven't switched to USB-C yet, so at the end of a long day at work I have to take a close look to make sure I'm plugging in the micro-USB in the right direction . It probably hasn't been implemented in the design phase of this generation, so I'm not deducting a star for it. Aftershokz clearly cares about their product and their customers' experience as they continue to develop their product. just a little bit better by fixing what I think are the most common bugs in the previous generation with each update of the design. As long as they keep up the good work, they have a customer here for life. This is the kind of respect for the end-user experience that more companies need to emulate!

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Useless features
