This annoyed me because it kept running and showed high humidity making my room very hot. This had nothing to do with the separate humidity monitor I have. At some point I noticed that there was a hole about the size of a smartphone under my door. I didn't really think air could circulate out of a hole that size, but I blocked it on a whim. Fast forward a few days, the humidity outside has risen very high because of the rain. Then I look around and see that my humidity is stable and the dehumidifier is working properly. I think that proves it. In order for the air to be able to circulate from there, there is no need for a large opening to another room. However, it works very well. I notice that the room smells like salt when it works. I haven't noticed it lately so it's either gone or I'm just getting used to it. **10/05 ** After 5 months of occasional use (about 4 times a week) it started to rattle.
