(1) This must be hand washed. This isn't a problem for me as I mostly hand wash everything, but at least I always have the option to dip these items in boiling water to sterilize them. I usually do this when opening a new box of stuff before first use. Things are different with that. (2) Hard plastic makes getting frozen milk harder than it should be. You can't squeeze out the half-cylinders like ice cubes in a silicone ice tray, and the hard plastic doesn't even flex that much. However, breast milk has a high enough fat content that if you work on it a little, they will come out without having to take a knife or other tool to get the cylinders out. However, I hold a tray over a large plate to catch them. (3) It takes more concentration to put a tray of milk in the freezer without spilling it than any sleep-deprived person is willing to expend. I don't have the option of just stocking the freezer where I want to put the tray and I guess I'm not the only one. (4) Half-bottles of frozen milk are too long. My guess is that they need to be a certain length so both are narrow enough to fit in "any bottle opening imaginable" and still be a comfortable 1 ounce. However, being able to fit only 2 ounces of frozen milk in a 4 ounce bottle is inconvenient. I try to breastfeed my baby when I'm not home, so I don't need more than 2 ounces of expressed milk when I can't for some reason, but even then; Using a 4 ounce bottle for 2 ounces of milk wastes space in my diaper bag. I could use large Medela milk storage bottles that hold about 2.5 ounces to save space, but we use Medela Calma teats which would make this setup heavy and in constant danger of tipping over, so wider 4 ounce bottles should be. I could also chop/crush the chopsticks to fit more in the bottle, but what parent needs the extra work? However, it remains the most attractive system I have ever seen. Note: I have not tried any other storage and freezing system because I have already spent so much money on bottles and teats trying to find a combination that works for both baby and me that I have researched so much how I could. due to a memory issue and then settled on what looked the most promising. At the very least, it seems less moody (single-use plastic bags leak randomly?) and produces less waste.
