Previous shoes were Asics Kayano 20's which I took on a 500 mile run - wore well but didn't care about the weight and stiff platform. The light weight and deep fit of the Zealot appealed to me and I've always had good experiences with Saucony shoes in the past. After about 200 miles, I began to gradually develop an Achilles tendon problem in both legs, which got worse as I put more miles on it. Saucony designed this shoe with a large block of foam that runs from the heel to the forefoot on the center panel of the shoe. This makes half of the shoe stiff, and while it's marketed as a neutral shoe, it's not. I attack the midfoot and because my foot was straight before the take off they forced my heels to supinate. When I took them off at 420 miles, that large medial brace showed no wear, but the heel to midfoot outer edge was heavily worn. The shoes balance on the center support and you can rock them from side to side. In the end, the cushioning was still good, but I was disappointed and had to stop training to recover. I bought two pairs but ended up selling the unused set.
