I'm personally very happy with this center speaker. I can clearly hear dialogue and sound effects during movies. My wife complained that she couldn't hear well and we turned on subtitles for her, but now she hears very well. I've set the crossover frequency to 100Hz, although this center channel is lowered to 45Hz. Its performance really drops off between 80 and 70 Hz. This means a separate subwoofer can handle anything below 100Hz, freeing up that center channel for higher ranges, which it does with ease. It plays up to 45Hz, but at that point it's a whisper. Not sure how it compares with the large full size center channel, but it sounds great in my theater. To some extent, I think technology has made some advances in designing smaller speakers to reproduce lower frequencies. I like the sound quality and my ears can't tell that its timbre doesn't match my Onkyo Tower speakers. I am very happy with the purchase. Given the space, I may have chosen a larger center to set the crossover frequency at 60Hz, but this center works well.
