Cute but odd sizing and design flaws

This item had to be modified to fit my body type. For reference, I'm 5ft 9in, weigh 137lbs, 36in tall, broad shoulders, small waist, 37in hips. Based on other reviews I actually tried this in both Medium and Large. The main issue (mentioned in other reviews) is that the built in bra/pad is too high. The elastic that's supposed to go under the bust actually hits me 2 inches higher, right in the middle of my chest! I tried Large and it had the same problem. Also, the medium was a bit cramped at the shoulders, but nestled snugly and perfectly to the torso. The big one was too bulging in the arms and torso, and the ruffles on the stomach were extremely unflattering for his size. There were no problems around with ruffles. I think the design of this top makes it more suitable for petite women with a smaller bra size and petite shoulders. This is the only way I can imagine an integrated bra/pad working. If you have a long torso, large chest and broad shoulders. Buyer beware. I was able to make the medium size work for me by taking a pair of scissors and cutting out the entire front inner part of the bra. This is easy to do without causing structural damage to traditional seams. After doing this, medium fitted my shoulders better. It also became less heavy after modification, since the material with lining is quite thick. I also think it dries faster. I can now wear a bikini top for support, which makes dressing and undressing in public at the beach easier. After all, bikini bottoms aren't the best design. The fact that they are scarce is not the biggest problem. The actual shape of the design is very, very unflattering. I bought a separate pair of cute black swim shorts to wear with this top.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
