For 16.99 I couldn't be happier. I can only assume that the professional versions, which are significantly more expensive than this cheap microphone stand, write negative reviews about this microphone stand, so you are spending too much money on expensive brands. After reading the negative reviews I was expecting some kind of hack. I've already kept InnoGear and Rode mic stands on my shopping list. When I received this mic stand and wasn't satisfied, I was able to return it. Well, not only am I satisfied, I'm glad I only spent 16.99. This mic stand is not flimsy at all. I use it for the entry-level ATR2100 microphone. The mic weighs just over half a pound, so this could be an issue if you have a heavy mic. I don't know, but it seems like it could easily hold a heavier mic. To hold a smaller mic like the ATR2100, you will need to move the straps on the shock up and down to hold the mic. Once you move these straps properly, they hold the mic with ease. The mic stand is very sturdy and doesn't feel cheap in the slightest. Don't waste your money on a more expensive mic stand before trying this one first. It's a bit small but works great for my needs, you can see how I installed it in the photos I posted. it is close to me The base would be the only part I would complain about, but it does the job.
