So glad I bought this. I had an old computer (iMac G5) that died due to a motherboard failure. So the hard drive was fine. But I got frustrated when trying to get my information using an external app. There were compatibility issues. At the recommendation of someone on the Apple Community Help Forum, I decided to try this dock instead. After plugging it in and plugging it into my hard drive, I was able to access everything on that old hard drive. Wonderful. I've since used it to read and write to three different hard drives. We are upgrading my daughter's MacBook to an SSD, so we used the docking station to clone her HD to the new SSD. A very cool invention. Suitable for desktop PCs and HD laptops.
