If you have a standard 8 foot ceiling, it won't fit. The part that connects to the ceiling is a screw, not a spring like other models. Also, the top is about 3 inches thick and not a flimsy piece of plastic which actually holds up better. I couldn't attach a top shelf or rack because it would be too high with a ceiling mount screw. I had to take an extra bracket from an old scratching post and put a ceiling screw in it to attach it to the ceiling. My cat loves the corner. None of my cats like rope. I ruined them with carpet scrapers. If the design had a spring loaded top instead of a screw. I believe it will work. It's built very solidly, but it would be useless without a ceiling mount. They also might have to add half a post to solve this high growth problem like other companies are doing. That's a good idea. But if you live in an apartment without consistently different-sized ceilings, then that becomes obsolete.
