Perfect for stairs, especially if you work late. Instead of turning on the overhead lights, they sense your presence and stay lit only long enough to find your way back to bed. Still too bright as I don't need to read with them, just walk around the room, but they're reasonable. That they're rechargeable is a godsend, otherwise I'd swap the batteries left and right. Since I only use it for a few seconds each time I go up or down stairs, a charge lasts for weeks. One note: DO NOT put them halfway down the stairs and you will keep knocking them over. The instructions don't say anything, but you have to either climb from the side or under the step's overhang where they are sheltered. Once they're in place, you'll never be able to move the metal strip again without a blowtorch (hair dryers won't).
