I've always wanted one of these Himalayan Salt Lamps for their looks and alleged health benefits. I finally decided on this product and I'm glad I did. This is an extremely attractive product that is easy to assemble and uses little power. Although the specs say this product draws 15W, that's simply the maximum power you can use. If you don't have any other lighting in your home, you'll probably dim it down to the point where it only draws 5-10 watts. The salt crystals that come with the lamp are beautiful, unique, arrange them in the lamp as you like. They emit a soft pink-orange glow reminiscent of embers in a fireplace. The actual lighting is provided by a bulb similar to that found on the strings of old-fashioned Christmas tree lights. A dimmer appears to be a simple potentiometer that allows you to change the amount of current going into a lightbulb. It's very low-tech, but most of the best things in life are. The price of this product doesn't make it the cheapest Himalayan salt lamp you can buy but for maybe $5 more than some of the cheaper ones you get a very high quality. Product that will not disappoint you.
