Does the volume turn off when you adjust the volume?

This is normal but there is too much EMI on AM with weak stations and apparently this is to mute the sound when the volume is turned up or down? It's the only DSP radio to do this, it's reminiscent of an old shortcoming of DSP radios: if you crank the volume all the way up, there's no current limiter built into the circuit, so the entire system shuts down at maximum volume. FM is a DSP after all, SW is ok, it helps that there is a direct frequency input but there is a delay if you don't press the play button after entering the frequency. I've read other models where people put their PLL radios on mute while tuning, this model is muted when the volume is adjusted, strange. This model reminds me of many similar BL-5C powered DSP radios, they are mediocre when it comes to eliminating background noise or only eliminating internal EMI meaning you have to turn up the volume to control the noise generated overcome. Depending on the need, I would look elsewhere.
