Review on ZAGG Pro Keys Wireless Keyboard and Detachable Case - Compatible with Apple 10.9-inch iPad Air (4th Gen) - iPad 10.9: A Perfect Match! by Tommy Russo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best keyboard cases for iPad Air (4th generation)!

First let me say this is a long review but PLEASE READ! I don't generally give product reviews often, but this keyboard case deserves over 5 stars in my opinion. THIS IS AN AMAZING CASE and I am writing this review right now. I got a new 4th generation iPad Air for Christmas (2020) and have been looking everywhere for a functional, high-quality keyboard ever since. Case. I have high hopes for laptop/electronics protection and needed a protective case with a detachable backlit keyboard, room for an Apple Pencil and relatively light weight. Of course, I first looked at the Apple Magic Keyboard and was blown away by the price. Especially since the junior model didn't have a detachable backlit keyboard, so there wasn't one. I searched Revain and searched every night for over a week. There are cheaper models averaging $40-$60 and I was tempted to buy one of these until this incident happened. Let me tell you that you won't be disappointed here. PROS: VERY easy to set up - just attach the base case and attach the keyboard with the magnetic back, pair with the iPad and you're done. - The keyboard will automatically turn on after pairing and the iPad will be placed on one of the magnetic strips to keep it running. - The first stock photo is a bit misleading as to what the case actually looks like - it doesn't prop or tilt like the Magic. keyboard, and the back of the keyboard case is magnetic, so it detaches from the part of the case that surrounds the iPad itself (that's what's shown in the photo, which makes it levitate). Unlike other cases that claim to fit the iPad. The iPad Air 4 is 10.9 inch, but it is actually made for the iPad Pro, this case is specially cut for Air, so the camera cutout fits perfectly, the charging port hole and the Touch ID cutout fit well (other cases that I checked them out, they were made for Pro, so Touch ID was covered with a case) - the keyboard is responsive and feels like a laptop's keys; They are very easy and natural to type on, unlike some third-party keyboards. The keyboard is backlit and can change color (see last photo of the blue backlight in the dark). Colours: white, yellow, purple, blue, dark blue, red and green. The backlight also has 3 brightness settings and the option to turn it off. The keyboard is attached to the back of the case. So when you don't need them, you can simply remove them and your iPad will still be protected on the back and sides. - The keyboard is easy to put back on - the back of the case is magnetic and fits exactly where you want it; No need to fiddle with the iPad to get it in place. There is a slot on the side for the Apple Pencil, which charges via the iPad's magnetic strip when in the case. The tab keeps the pen in place even when the case is closed. A NOTICE. I don't have an Apple Pencil yet, so I can't comment on how easy it is to remove or how well it stays in the case for travel/use. CONS (very few): - In this case there is no sleep/wake function. So if your iPad is on when you close the case, it stays on until you manually turn it off or go to sleep. I'm a girl who was looking for a stylish and functional case and I wish this case was a different color. The description says the case is black, but it's more of a medium gray in my opinion. Slightly ugly color but I'm definitely willing to ignore it given its functionality. When the iPad is placed on the furthest vertical dock in the case, it doesn't sit well on the lap. In the second, more reclined position, it works great as a laptop (as I have it now while typing this). If you want it installed in the most upright position, you must place it on a hard, flat surface. Obviously the keyboard will add weight to the iPad. Being Air, it is very light and therefore a bit heavier compared to the attached keyboard. Not necessarily negative, but you should know that your Air doesn't feel like Air-y in this case. GENERAL OPINION: A MUST BUY if you are looking for a great keyboard case, especially as an arm and leg alternative to the Apple models - I LOVE IT.

Pros
  • Strong protection, lightweight design: The rugged polycarbonate case features a rigid base, rubberized edges and button covers, and corner bumpers that combine to provide 6.6 (2m) drop protection. Lightweight design fits easily in your pocket.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
