Buy a cheaper window regulator

I bought this more expensive Dorman window regulator because I thought it could perform better and be less likely to fail. I was wrong, it fails in the same place as the others I've bought. That stupid plastic clip that holds the ends of the cable. Save money and buy cheaper window regulators until someone makes a product that doesn't use plastic on a part that should be metal.

Savings may not be worth it

I have used this brand for both rear windows. Unfortunately there were no rubber parts in the kit and since they weren't in the parts list I didn't even know they were missing. As a result, none of the windows work 100%. Both hold the window in place, but when lowered down they tilt slightly and this causes enough friction to prevent the window from going up. The motor detects resistance and automatically lowers the glass back to the ground.

Only controllers, do not throw away window regulators!

This is the second rear power window I have purchased for my BMW. Both rear windows of my 2006 325I sedan cracked or snapped a wire. This thing installs in minutes but make sure you save your old ESC and motor as you will need to reuse the motor. I knew this, but I accidentally threw mine on the scrap heap before the new regulator arrived. Luckily he only stayed out for a few days. In general, this is an excellent spare part in terms of money and quality.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Same problem as some of the other reviewers - if you lower the window all the way down with this adjuster it gets stuck and won't go up 75% of the time. The only way to fix it is to push it up while someone is pressing the switch to free it. I wasn't sure how long I planned to keep our 2008 328i, so I went to the aftermarket for this part. If it lasts from 6 months to a year I would be happy with that. But as a result, I now have to redo the work again. Worst piece I've bought as a souvenir.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Sorry I have to disagree with the previous comments. I .

Sorry, I have to disagree with previous comments. About a month ago I bought an original BMW driver window regulator and the installation took about 45 minutes. 2 weeks later my rear window on the passenger side broke. After reading the reviews I decided to buy a cheaper Dorman regulator. The Dorman regulator looked exactly like the OEM and the installation was identical EXCEPT when I got to the clip in the glass window I couldn't get the clip to go into the hole in the window. I ended up…

Better than the best OEM power windows and motors

Ideal for 2006 330xi rear passenger windows. The part is actually different from the picture so I was hesitant to order it but all the part numbers were correct so I took a chance. Fits exactly. The new part has several improvements as both ends have pulleys to reduce wear. My original had a pulley and a plastic guide. It also comes fully assembled so you don't have to fiddle with cables. Just pop it in the door, screw the motor in place with a T20 torx, screw the new assembly back in place…

I recommend staying away from this power window

I don't usually write reviews. But unfortunately I had to buy 4 of these power windows for my 2007 BMW 328i. I bought the first one from Amazon in August '15 for the driver's rear quarter window and it failed within 6 months. The pulleys that hold the braided line in place are cheap and short lived. I had to buy a replacement at twice the price from BMW. Within a few months I had to replace the passenger side rear adjuster so I risked the same purchase again, assuming it might be defective. The

Despite the rave reviews about this product as a drop.

Despite rave reviews for this product as a replacement, the unit I received was not working properly. The window went down and never went up again. After many frustrating hours of troubleshooting (everything seemed to be working as it should, but the anti-pinch feature worked when trying to close the window from the fully open position), I found that the window holder was sticking against the Roller body twisted open position, causing the window to get stuck in the rails. Pressing down while…

Don't waste your money on OEM or Dorman

I have 3 BMWs. With BMW OEM parts, you pay for the name, not the quality. BMW power windows are notorious for failure, so why replace them with expensive parts that keep failing? This regulator fits perfectly, works great and will hopefully last a lot longer than the OEM. Since Dorman restores Bugs from original parts, I'm sure they will last. UPDATE 02/20/2016: I replaced my regulator on 05/26/14. Since then I've only used a window for post-install testing. Yesterday I lowered the glass and…
