We bought this for our above average 2 year old (he's in the 80-90th percentile for most sizes) and the 3T jacket is a bit large. That's to be expected and I think it will be perfect for him when he's closer to 3 but I don't think he'll have much room after that. So as a parent you should already know this, but if your child is on the upper limit of one size, buy one size up. The same goes for this jacket. The jacket itself is great. It has a decent shell for wind and rain protection. The inside is not that thick but very fluffy and soft. Thicker ones might be better for colder weather but our kid hates bulky coats so I love this one. For short periods of weather in the upper 30's (on the way to kindergarten or similar trips) it's probably fine, for longer periods of weather in the 40's and a bit too warm if it's in the 50's and your child at all active Overall we are happy with this jacket. It's perfect for this type of weather between a light jacket and a coat, it's not bulky, the zip seems secure and I haven't noticed any problems with the stitching.
