Review on πŸ”Œ WiFi Ceiling Fan Switch and Light Remote Control Kit, Smart Fan Controller Compatible with Alexa and Google, Phone APP Control, No Hub Required, Universal Fan Light Remote Control by Mark Cannon

Good unit at a reasonable price

I had a 10 year old Hunter remote controlled fan; The computer died so I decided to try something else. This unit worked very well. Easy to install (aside from the typical pain of handling ceiling fans) and the functions work well via the remote control. I ended up buying two more for fans who didn't have a controller. Connecting to Alexa was easy and now I can control these three fans with my voice. One downside is the phone app. This prevents me from using more than 10 characters for the lighting. It's fine for a fan and remote control, but if you want to use something like a "master bedroom light" with Alexa, that's not an option. Another quirk is that the light tends to turn on after power is restored. It's ok but if your power goes out in the middle of the night the fan will wake you up and let you know when it's over. I would prefer it to be disabled by default. But compared to the Hunter controls, this option is less likely to turn on the wrong light. And Hunter had a habit of turning things on and off at random (most likely some other device that he registered as a signal). After a few months I still haven't seen this behavior. I will be buying more of these for other fans in the house. Oh, and my son destroyed one of the brand new remotes (long story) - the device lets you use the new remotes (available at Revain) and lets you pair without having to climb to the ceiling. Replacing the remote took a few seconds.
