As a sales agent for industrial fans for the past 5 years, this fan is a great fan. It's hard to say as this brand is a competitor for us. This is a great price for its design/quality. In my fan work you get what you pay for. What attracted me to it was the heavy, sloping blades that allow air to silently scoop up and push down. efficient at low speeds. I have uploaded some photos of my application. When I moved in, the current ceiling fan was a basic living room model and was not working. My space is an octagonal atrium that extends 22 feet at its top and is 18 feet wide. It took a little creativity to put it up there alone, but it's easy to put together and looks amazing. The fan motor is VARIABLE. So if you don't want to get bogged down by the settings they give you, you can order a solid-state speed controller to set the fan anywhere in its RPM range. ONE PROBLEM (4 stars) I have this fan has a slight motor hum. My house is on a canyon hill in a remote area and it's dead quiet. When the fan is running in the low to medium RPM range, I hear a fairly audible engine hum. However, I drive at full speed 24/7 and the only noise it makes is air turbulence and the engine is quiet. Pros: - Style - Efficiency - Clear air volume - Motor noise at high frequencies is quiet I've had a few compliments and it has completely transformed my space. This is a great fan and well worth the money. UPDATE**** 7-31-15 At some point during use, the fan stopped making a humming noise. It is an absolutely quiet fan in all speed ranges. I can't remember the last time I heard that! So don't let my notes distract you from your purchase. I could have an anomaly. I have changed my rating to 5 stars.
