It's not too bad to interfere with your freedom of movement or anything like that.
Measuring 38" chest and 30" waist, the medium one is a bit tight at the top and straight at the bottom. It's not so bad that it affects your range of motion or anything like that. If I had to do it again I would probably use more but I'm pretty happy with what I have.
